Howdy Folks! As a former US Army Ranger, Drill Instructor and an advisor / trainer to the Bosnia & Herzegovina Army (1996-97) under the US State Department "Train & Equip Program." I have always enjoyed sharing with soldiers my personal experiences and tips & tricks on how to survive & thrive in a military outdoor environment through field expedient know-how. And although I've been retired from the Army since January 1993, I am still doing what I like to do best, teaching and training soldiers. But not in a class room, but through a series of handbooks I publish called THE RANGER DIGESTS.
They're about how to survive and thrive in the outdoors "military style." From how to take a crap in the woods, improvise, modify, and improve military and commercial outdoor gear to lots of useful tips, tricks & ideas that you won't find in other books, military or civilian. And it wasn't long after I published my first Ranger Digest that I began to receive letters and orders from hunters, campers, hikers, and other outdoor enthusiasts who wanted to buy my Ranger Digests. Now before decided to self-publish these handbooks, I use to forward all my ideas, tips and tricks to different agencies and offices within the Department of the Army. But the only thing I ever received back were letters saying, "...sorry, not feasible for military outdoor field conditions." Well, since the Army wasn't interested in my ideas, I decided to write a book about my tips, tricks and ideas and then try to market it to the troops. After all, when it comes to "common sense" and "field craft ingenuity" the troops know more about this stuff than some "chair-borne" Colonel or General sitting on ass behind his desk at Fort Benning or the Pentagon. You know what I mean? And my instincts proved to be right on target too, because not only did the troops love my first Ranger Digest but they also help me write my other Ranger Digests too, II thru IX. No doubt it was a blessing in disguise that the Army did reject my tips, tricks and ideas or there wouldn't be a Ranger Digest series today. Their loss - my gain! Or I should say our gain, all you Ranger Digest readers and contributors. And now, not a day goes by that I don't receive an email or two from someone telling me how much they enjoyed my website and in learning some of my survival tips & tricks that other websites don't explain or talk about. And you know what? I never get tired of receiving these compliments, never. Now for those of you who know of tip or trick or two of your own that you would like to share with me for future Ranger Digest publications. I have one rule and so please listen carefully: DO NOT send me any of your tips UNLESS you have read ALL nine (9) copies of my Ranger Digest (I-IX) books. Why? Because whenever someone has sent me a tip or trick and they have NOT read ALL of my Ranger Digests, most of the time it was already previously submitted by someone else and has already been published in one of my books. And so if you can't follow my one rule, - then don't expect a reply back from me. But if I do accept a tip or trick from you for a future Ranger Digest book, don't worry you'll hear from me and you'll receive a few free Ranger Digest books when your tip is officially published, but NOT before. I not only write and self publish my own outdoor survival books, but I now sell my own survival kits. That's right, what started as a hobby in trying to develope the best lightweight survival kit soon become an online mail order business for me once people found out about my kits. I love it, I love putting my survival kits together and searching for new and improved items to add to them because I know they could someday save someone's life. To learn more about my survival kits, just click on my SOS Necklace and My Store & Stuff page. I guess by now you're getting anxious to find out what kind of survival tips & tricks I have here on my website, aren't ya? Sure you are, but before you view'em I have just one little favor to ask of you. And that is if you really like what you see here on my website, I would appreciate you spreading the word and let others know about it. Okey dokey? Oh, by the way, just so you know I am retired and live here Italy in a small town famous for it's wine - Bardolino. It's located on the largest lake in Italy called Lake Garda. And so if you're ever here in my neighborhood, stop by for a glass of wine. And if you're curious as to why I chose to retire here and not back in the US, well it's because I fell in love with the Italian wine, pizza, pasta and women here. And not necessarily in that order, if you know what mean. Come check out the official Bardolino site and you'll then see why I love it here in Italy. Well thanks for stopping by, I hope you like what you find here and will come back again later when I have posted some more tips & tricks. And if you're interested in learning what the rest of my tips & tricks are about, sorry but you'll have to buy my Ranger Digest series to find out. And now without further delay, you may click on the tips & tricks to the left of this screen. Enjoy! Your Ranger Buddy, "Army Ranger Rick" F. Tscherne Retired
